Sailing from Plymouth

Skills / Experience Needed

  • Nothing Specific

I have a Sadler 32 on a mooring in Cargreen on the River Tamar (plymouth). I’m 65 and retired but not completely free of other commitments. Both my wife and daughter are dinghy sailors and think cruising is basically boring. I’m a bit rusty – I’m just dipping my toe into single handed sailing as I haven’t been out so much due to lack of crew. I’ve got Coastal Skipper practical (20 years ago!), ICC, VHF, PB2, diesel engine maintenance certs.,but a bit rusty – also sail (badly) a Solo dinghy.

I'm looking for potential sailing companions either with some experience or possibly dinghy sailors who are new to yachts for sailing around the Plymouth area. Excluding specific trips, probably in the area between Fowey/Polperro and Salcombe/Dartmouth - or could be just day sailing in Plymouth sound and the rivers. Share subsistence costs and maybe help out with maintenance now and then.

Once in Plymouth, I’m thinking of pottering round the south west, Scillies, Ireland, maybe Scotland or Brittany. The new mooring is in the River Tamar, upstream of SaltashBridge.

I’m pretty easy going but “alleged” to snore. Boat is pretty old school and open plan and all that goes with it – no fridge, only coolbox, no hot water (apart from boiling a kettle), 12V only, Might be uncomfortable for someone tall, as bunks are a bit short. Share day to day expenses.
